Kairos
KAIROS, a weekly Bible study group for hundreds of young adults held at Brentwood Baptist Church in Brentwood, Tennessee, has been a long-time supporter of Sweet Sleep. The KAIROS group has shown its support for Sweet Sleep by holding fundraisers and sending groups to build beds and minister to orphans. Recently, KAIROS attendees raised over $44,000 to provide beds for handicapped boys living in an orphanage in Orhei, Moldova. KAIROS members have also participated in numerous mission journeys to Moldova.
“We have raised and given money to support the mission as well as sending more than 100 short-term missionary volunteers to support and love the orphans each year,” BBC Senior Pastor Mike Glenn said.
“Jen’s passion and vision for the children halfway around the world is infectious. We believe in what God is doing through Jen and the Sweet Sleep organization and we are thrilled to be part of God’s work.”
Brentwood Baptist Church
Since Sweet Sleep began, Brentwood Baptist Church has been an integral part of Sweet Sleep’s ministry to provide beds to the orphaned and abandoned children of Moldova. Brentwood has taken numerous mission journeys, seen hundreds of children accept Jesus, and physically built or funded more than 1000 beds for Moldova’s orphaned children.
The Union of Christian Evangelical Baptist Churches of Moldova
(Baptist Union of Moldova)
Since 2003, Sweet Sleep and the Baptist Union of Moldova have worked together to meet the needs of orphaned and abandoned children. In April 2008, Sweet Sleep and the Baptist Union entered into an official partnership as part of Sweet Sleep’s 1:27 Project.
The 1:27 Project connects churches in America with churches in Third World countries teaching them to “be” the church. The 1:27 Project models how to live out the Bible’s James 1:27 calling to “pure religion” – ministering to orphans and widows in their distress. In 2008, to kick-off their official partnership with Sweet Sleep, the Baptist Union distributed project information to Moldova’s 450 Romanian and Russian Baptist Churches and 100 church plants to begin matching Moldovan churches with US church partners. The Baptist Union also employs a full-time staff member serving as liason between the Union and Sweet Sleep, helping to orchestrate and coordinate this unprecedented project.
