Current Haiti Orphanage Projects

The Need

Orphans in Haiti were already in great need long before the earthquake hit Port-au-Prince on January 12, 2010. Most of Haiti’s 1 million orphans sleep on the ground, which makes them susceptible to crawling, biting insects and disease. Malaria is also a growing concern in Haiti. This creates a dangerous situation with most children sleeping without the protection of something as simple as an $8 life-saving mosquito net.

Sweet Sleep’s Work in Haiti

Sweet Sleep is currently working with The Global Orphan Project to provide beds for more than 4,000 children. Sweet Sleep beds in Haiti consist of metal bunk beds with thick, foam mattresses and pillows; vinyl mattress and pillow covers; crisp, new sheets; comfy blankets and life-saving mosquito nets. A complete Sweet Sleep bunk bed for two children, including a French-Creole Bible, is $310.
