Sometimes the best gift you can give is your time! You may not think you have much to offer, but every hour you are willing to donate to us means we have that much more time to help bring hope and love to the orphans around the world. Without the help of dedicated volunteers, we would not be able to do what we do! We have an ongoing need for volunteers in the following areas:
Office/Administrative Volunteers
Help write articles or compile our monthly e-newsletter, quarterly mail-outs, or stories for our website. Other possibilities include preparing mailings, updating databases, responding to e-mails, and organizing and identifying needs for projects. The list goes on, so contact us today!
Events/Conferences
Throughout the year, Sweet Sleep hosts a variety of fundraising, benefit and awareness events. We always need volunteers to help set up for the events and to work the booths at the conferences. Dates and locations of the events vary. This opportunity is a good way to share with others the work Sweet Sleep is doing around the world!
Mission Journeys
One of the best ways to volunteer is to work directly with the children Sweet Sleep provides for! Each year, Sweet Sleep organizes mission journeys around the world, where team members get the chance to build Sweet Sleep beds and deliver them to orphanages. The trips Sweet Sleep arranges are open to groups or individuals of all ages and spiritual callings. Trip dates and prices vary. For more information, visit the “Go” tab on our website!
Advocate for Sweet Sleep at church, school, or other personal event
A lot of our advertising is accomplished word-of-mouth through one passionate volunteer to another. If you are having a get together or feel called to share with your church or school about Sweet Sleep’s work, our website provides resources that can help. We have videos about Sweet Sleep that can be shown at the beginning of a scheduled event or even a movie night to promote awareness of the needs Sweet Sleep seeks to meet. Visit the “Programs” tab on our webpage, and then click on “Click here for Resources” for free print-outs, posters, instructions, and program curriculum.
Even if you do not organize one of our fund-raising programs, just spreading the word about Sweet Sleep and children’s needs around the world can help us and, in turn, help the children we serve. The next time you and your friends get together, bring some perspective to the group by showing our video and discussing what you can do with the provisions God has blessed you with.
Retail
Sweet Sleep sells hand-crafted Ugandan jewelry on its website. The jewelry is made by widows at an orphanage in Uganda, and the proceeds go toward providing beds, blankets, Bibles, and life-saving mosquito nets in Uganda. Sweet Sleep is always looking for ways to grow this retail enterprise. Individuals can sign up to host jewelry parties or open houses in their homes or churches. Also, retail stores have the opportunity to sell jewelry on a wholesale, commission, or donated space basis.
